Parental Engagement- call for evidence
Helping parents understand their child’s progress
A flyer highlighting the ‘understanding progress’ work is attached. This work is being undertaken by DCSF Schools Standards Group and National Strategies to produce materials to help parents more easily understand and assess their children’s progress in English and Mathematics against the relevant key stage and therefore help encourage greater parental engagement in their child’s learning. The materials will be available in spring.

Tackling misbehaviour in schools
An easily-readable 8-page booklet has been produced by DCSF for parents and carers on misbehaviour in schools which may be of interest to PSAs in conversations with parents. It covers matters such as searching children’s bags, physical intervention, exclusion and schools’ legal powers generally around misbehaviour and parents’ responsibilities.
